Quickie

It's two days after Christmas and it just feels so wrong to be back at work.
It seemed like Christmas went by in such a flurry...
The past few days have been busy, but "good" busy filled with QT with our families.

Saturday / 23 Dec:
- My sister turned 35 and it's a thing in our family that the last person who celebrated their birthday gets to plan the next person's birthday and what gift to get. Since the husband was the last birthday we celebrated, he was in charge of planning C's celebration. We all put our money together to buy one gift for the celebrant, which makes things a lot easier for everyone. We had a simple dinner at our house with Mom and Dad bringing food over and the husband in charge of cooking his pot roast.

Sunday / 24 Dec:
- After wrapping some more last minute gifts and bagging the gifts and making sure that each bag had the right gift to go to the right house, we got ready to head out to the IL's to go to mass with the whole family. The IL's cooked a huge spread, as usual and the kids went crazy over their gifts. By 9pm, we were back in the car to head down to my parents' house. Opening of gifts lasted until way after midnight and we didn't get home until 2am. Jake was still wide awake through all of this! By the time we got home, he went straight to check if Santa came by and sure enough, Santa drank the milk and ate all of the cookies that Jake left by the fireplace. However, Santa had thought that since Jake loves Jack Sparrow and Pirates of the Carribean so much, that he would do a mini-treasure hunt and didn't leave the gifts under the tree or by the fireplace. Jake went around the house, only to find that Santa had left a big sack of presents inside his room. One by one, he opened the gifts and squealed louder and louder as each gift revealed one Pirate of the Caribbean toy, after another. Santa was very generous to Jake this year - giving him his own Black Pearl ship, Jack Sparrow in all sizes (even a talking one!), a Pirate blanket and even the chest with Davey Jones' heart inside, and his very own key to open it! After opening all of his gifts, he turned to me and Daddy and proudly said "I must have been a good boy, huh?"

On one hand, it seemed like we went overboard on toys and gifts for Jake this year...but really, Jake doesn't get spoiled like this every day. He has been such a joy lately (ok fine - not ALL the time..haha!) and we have been so happy at how he has turned out. He was just as excited to get clothes as he was to get toys - and we know some kids who get turned off when they receive clothes! Jake was actually jumping up and down when he opened boxes and found new clothes! How's that for an early fashionista? :) He is a very simple boy, and he never really asked for anything in particular and so it was so easy to just splurge on him the way we did. He was very appreciative of everything that he received, and for that, we feel we raised him quite well :)

The husband and I didn't sleep until 4am - from watching Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy. I got both Season 1 and 2 DVD's from my brother and sister.

Monday / 25 Dec:
- We woke up late but just in time to attend Christmas Day mass with my Mom & Dad. We had a light brunch after and we ALL took a nap from the exhaustion of the previous night's activities. We woke up just in time to freshen up and head to my brother's house for dinner. We finally got home around 9pm and called it a night.

Tuesday / 26 Dec:
- The husband is off for the rest of the week and so the boys drove up with me to work. It was nice to doze off in the car on the way to work, and be able to doze off again on the way home. The husband even picked me up for lunch :). We headed down to my sister's to have dinner at her house and albeit the (very) strong wind and rain, we were so there!

We will be spending the night here at my IL's tonight. The husband has agreed to indulge me on a quick outlet-shopping trip tonight after I get off from work! Yay! Oh...and more Greys Anatomy tonight!

- Christmas Cards are still trickling in... yay! I got one from Mama O, and Mama W last night. Thanks ladies!
- Need to write Thank You cards for all of the gifts that the little boy got. I need to have it done soon!!!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and is looking forward to a better New Year!
Toodles - back to work for me! Bah!
